Flower Powered

So I caught a trailer for a Ukrainian CG animated feature called Mavka, The Forest Song. With the lovely Mavka here trapezing her way through the woods, plants blooming and swaying at her feet. As far as the lore of the mavka, the story is a little more somber. They are forest nymphs. Created from the souls of girls that had died unnatural or tragic deaths. They cast no reflection on water, and didn't have backs so you can see inside of them (Mavka here has a back though). 

They aided farmers by driving wild animals away, made clothing from stolen flax and they loved flowers, which they also wore. On Pentacost (aka Mavka's Easter) they would hold games, dances and orgies. And for a real kicker, they would use flowers to lure unassuming young men into the forest to tickle them to death. I highly doubt the more salacious elements of these mythical creatures will make it into the final movie though. I just have a feeling... yeah.

Good luck to Animagrad Studio on this feature. Hope it does well for them. I like their lead character for sure.
